Following discussions at the meetings of the Working Party on Decommissioning and Dismantling (WPDD) in October 2016 and the Radioactive Waste Management Committee Regulators' Forum (RF) in March 2017, the Nuclear Energy Agency is organising an international workshop on regulation of decommissioning to be held on 20-21 June 2018 at the OECD (Boulogne) Conference Centre in Boulogne-Billancourt, France.
The two-day workshop will focus on the exchange and sharing of national experiences and challenges in regulation of decommissioning of nuclear facilities. It aims at providing a good picture of the heterogeneity of challenges and will support learning from best practices found in the NEA member countries.
To help to achieve this, the workshop will address a variety of issues from a range of perspectives in four sessions:
Breakout sessions with discussions in small groups will further contribute to exploring and understanding the interests and needs of the NEA member countries in the area of regulation of decommissioning. Insights gained in this workshop will inform the development of RF and WPDD work in this area.
The workshop is open to all interested parties and organisations representing policymaking and regulatory bodies, nuclear facility owners and decommissioning implementers, as well as waste management organisations.
In particular, the aim of this workshop is to bring together members from the RF, the WPDD and the RWMC, as well as of other interested NEA groups.
