The NEA Working Group on Risk Assessment (WGRISK) focuses on activities related to the use of probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) and its methods to assess current and future nuclear power plants and other nuclear installations. The group members, as well as former chairs, met on 26-28 March in Paris, France, to discuss the ongoing and future work and to mark the group’s 25th anniversary.
Over the three days, delegates exchanged information on the use and developments of PSA and had intensive discussions on cutting-edge issues such as dynamic PSA, passive safety performance and reliability, managing the increasing complexity of PSA, among others.
A special session entitled “Pivotal moments and perspectives for the future” focused on the WGRISK achievements over the past 25 years, including reports and technical discussion topics, development of PSA based on major accidents and incidents, and some practical examples of PSA applications in safety management. A panel discussion was organised to reflect on the WGRISK future activities dedicated to advancing risk assessment in nuclear safety.
An event brochure highlighting the main outcomes will be published in due course.
