During the week of 29 September 2025, the NEA hosted meetings at its offices in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, of countries participating in the International Reporting System for Operating Experience (IRS), operated jointly with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). There were 35 participants from 23 countries, the European Commission, and the IAEA.
From 29 September to 1 October, a technical meeting of IRS National Co-ordinators was held to exchange information on recent events of safety significance at nuclear power plants. More than 20 presentations on the recent events in nuclear power plants were delivered by country representatives. Through interactive sessions, participants gained new insights that can help to enhance their regulatory programmes and assess the need for follow-up actions to determine whether similar events could occur in their own countries.
In addition, a meeting of the IRS Technical Committee was held between 1-2 October 2025. The meeting focused on questions related to maintaining and upgrading the Incident Reporting Systems for Nuclear Installations (IRSNI) and on activities of the IRS for 2026.
