The Materials Acceleration Platform (MAP) activity of the NEA Expert Group on Structural Materials (EGSM) aims to identify already existing facilities and projects allowing accelerated or intensive manufacturing and characterisation of materials for nuclear applications. It also seeks to map numerical platforms and laboratories that are developing, including those developing artificial intelligence (AI) tools, that support the accelerated design and characterisation of materials. Characterisation may include, but is not limited to, mechanical properties, corrosion and irradiation behaviour.
In this context, the NEA has launched a survey to identify such facilities and projects. The survey covers both fuel and structural/cladding materials.
The survey will take around 15 minutes to complete and is open until 18 September 2026.
