This document contains the proceedings of the NEA Clay Club workshop on Clay Characterisation from Nanoscopic to Microscopic Resolution. The workshop was intented to provide a discussion platform on the current state of the art of different spectro-microscopic methods; new developments addressing knowledge gaps in clays; and the perception of the interplay between geometry and electrostatics of experimentalists and molecular/Monte Carlo modelling groups providing valuable information on a lattice. The workshop was held in Karlsruhe, Germany on 6-8 September 2011.
