At the request of its member countries, the NEA became involved in global efforts to ensure an economically sustainable secure supply of molybdenum-99/technetium-99m. This final concluding report of the High-level Group on the Security of Supply of Medical Radioisotopes, covers its work up until December 2018. During the fourth mandate, the HLG-MR continued its efforts to help ensure the global security of supply of 99Mo/99mTC. The NEA also undertook a further self-assessment review of the 99Mo/99mTc supply chain, focusing again on progress with the implementation of full cost recovery and paid outage reserve capacity and the role of governments in the market, on both an economic and on a health care level.
