The International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC) hosted its first Ministerial Conference since the COVID-19 pandemic on 1-3 November 2023. Organised in co-operation with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, the Conference took place in Accra, Ghana.
Many African governments envision nuclear energy as a key element in their future energy strategies to address climate change and energy security challenges. The IFNEC Ministerial Conference brought together high-level officials, nuclear industry representatives and key stakeholders to discuss regional and international co-operation and policies needed to advance nuclear energy programmes. Conference sessions addressed the nuclear financing, regulatory, human resource development, supply chain development, mapping and project development aspects.
