Workshop

Overview

Under the auspices of the OECD/NEA Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI), the Working Group on Risk Assessment (WGRISK), together with the OECD/NEA Database Projects ICDE, FIRE and CODAP, will host a three-day expert workshop at GRS gGmbH in Garching, near Munich, Germany. (Joint WGRISK and Database Projects Expert Workshop on Applicability and Applications of Operating Experience from the OECD/NEA Database Projects to Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PSA)). The workshop will focus on sharing how operating experience data from NEA Database Projects are applied to Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) for nuclear installations, and will discuss future data needs and emerging applications.

Workshop Detail

Objectives

  • Share current uses of OECD/NEA Database Project products and data supporting nuclear safety assessment
  • Identify new data needs for PSA across reactor and non-reactor facilities
  • Strengthen collaboration between data providers and PSA users, and evaluate the value and benefits of database outputs
  • Discuss the latest applicable case studies, statistics, and trends with the broader PSA community, while respecting project data access rules

Suggested Topics

  • Latest activities and planned extensions in ICDE, FIRE and CODAP
  • PSA application examples: Fire occurrence/suppression, common cause failures (CCF), passive component ageing and degradation
  • Correlation and identification of operational events across multiple database domains
  • Best practices and challenges in data collection, dissemination and analysis
  • Future needs and new technologies: SMRs, advanced nuclear technologies (ANTs), probabilistic analyses for non-reactor facilities, passive components

Format

In addition to topical sessions, the workshop will include facilitated plenary and wrap-up sessions. Active participation in discussions and formulation of conclusions and recommendations is encouraged.

In-person only (online participation is not foreseen).
